For the sake of our health, we try our best to make the air in every space we are in the best. Audi models have thus developed an air fragrance negative ion system.
On the A8 (D5) model, Audi has for the first time allowed the installation of an optional fragrance system in the vehicle, aiming to enhance the air quality inside the car and create a breathing environment with the scents of mountains or the sea for the occupants.

Upgrading the air fragrance negative ion system mainly requires installing two perfume tubes and two negative ion generators in the air conditioner, which are controlled by the air conditioner. The perfume concentration and negative ion system can be freely set on the air conditioner panel and the central control screen.
There are two types of car fragrances available – summer and winter. Users can choose between them in the MMI. Summer fragrances can create a fresh and holiday atmosphere, while winter fragrances bring joy and warmth.
In addition, users can also set the concentration of the fragrance. There are four types to choose from: weak, light, medium and strong.
Click on Vehicle – Air Conditioning – Settings (Pinion) – Fragrance, and then you can see the fragrance Settings interface, where you can also see the current usage of the fragrance.
After turning on the fragrance switch, the fragrance system function unit GX43 will “turn on” the selected perfume, and then, under the action of a blower, deliver it to the hose behind the air outlet. In this way, when the air outlet blows, the fragrance will also be carried away. It should be noted that the fragrance will only come out from the air outlets on both sides.
For models equipped with a fragrance system, you will surely find this button symbol. In fact, it is a negative ion generator. The negative ions produced through ionization can reduce harmful particles and bacteria in the air, thereby improving the air quality inside the vehicle.
